Rally Against the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill!
Join us in standing together in unity, raising awareness and voicing your opposition to the detrimental Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill!
This harmful Bill proposes to restrict academy freedoms, removing autonomy over curriculum, pupil numbers, and recruitment. The Bill shows an inherent distrust of parents to act in their child's best interests. It instead gives more powers to LA in areas where they have a proven record of failing, such as children with SEND. The safety net for parents of withdrawing a child from an unsafe or unsuitable school is in effect removed from the families where this option may be critical to prevent harm. It puts children at higher risk. It is about control, rather than support. It is about surveillance, data gathering and tracking. It leaves children and some families without data privacy, with no effective safeguards. The bill is silent on the child's voice throughout.
We believe that prioritising the well-being of our children is essential to create successful adults of the future and children who are happy and thriving in education and in life in the present. This bill moves us in the wrong direction.
Learn more about the bill's negative impacts, connect with fellow concerned citizens, and make your voice heard!
Family Friendly Protest Rallies are taking place across the country on 13th July from 2pm till 5pm
Why We're Here: Our children deserve a learning environment that nurtures their emotional, social, and academic growth. The Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill undermines parents' responsibilities under Section 7 of the Education Act to oversee that this is the case. This rally is a chance for parents, educators, students, and community members to come together and demonstrate the widespread opposition to this damaging legislation.
